I've started to look at study abroad options for this summer, and I find myself wanting to reach further than I know my money would stretch. It's one of those moments, where you know that there is so much you want to do, and so much you want to see, that you feel like time is closing in around you and you know that you can't do everything. I want to climb to the top of the Paris, I want to see Venice before it sinks, I want to drink with a Scotsman, and kiss the Blarney stone in Ireland. I want to walk through the red light district in Amsterdam, dance in Barcelona, and visit Elizabeth Bathory's castle in Turkey. I want to live somewhere besides the US. I want to stand in front of the a painting in the London national museum and be moved enough to cry. I want to travel all over and see everything. I want to stand in Athena's temple and where the orcal of Delphi was. I want to embrace it all and let myself be wrapped in it.

The problem is that I want it now...not in 10, 20, 30 or 40 years.

It's one of those nights where it feels like life, music and love seep from every pore of my soul, and fall like light through a doorway into a blackened night. I feel like perhaps for the first time I fully understand Juliet's speech in act three scene two:

Enter JULIET alone.

JULIET
1 Gallop apace, you fiery-footed steeds,
2 Towards Phoebus' lodging: such a wagoner
3 As Phaëthon would whip you to the west,
4 And bring in cloudy night immediately.
5 Spread thy close curtain, love-performing night,
6 That runaways' eyes may wink and Romeo
7 Leap to these arms, untalk'd of and unseen.
8 Lovers can see to do their amorous rites
9 By their own beauties; or, if love be blind,
10 It best agrees with night. Come, civil night,
11 Thou sober-suited matron, all in black,
12 And learn me how to lose a winning match,
13 Play'd for a pair of stainless maidenhoods.
14 Hood my unmann'd blood, bating in my cheeks,
15 With thy black mantle, till strange love, grown bold,
16 Think true love acted simple modesty.
17 Come, night, come, Romeo, come, thou day in night;
18 For thou wilt lie upon the wings of night
19 Whiter than new snow on a raven's back.
20 Come, gentle night, come, loving, black-brow'd night,
21 Give me my Romeo; and, when I shall die,
22 Take him and cut him out in little stars,
23 And he will make the face of heaven so fine
24 That all the world will be in love with night
25 And pay no worship to the garish sun.
26 O, I have bought the mansion of a love,
27 But not possess'd it, and, though I am sold,
28 Not yet enjoy'd: so tedious is this day
29 As is the night before some festival
30 To an impatient child that hath new robes
31 And may not wear them. O, here comes my nurse,
32 And she brings news; and every tongue that speaks
33 But Romeo's name speaks heavenly eloquence.

It's not that I long to be with someone, I'm happy in my solitude. But oh. The passion and the love, and the longing, the waiting for a life that is better and not yet here. Like seeing the moon beam though the trees, dancing on the ground in front of you, where you stumble though the darkness to get to the light, but have yet to reach it. Oh, this...moment. Where everything seems to exist and not exist all at once, and time is only man made. Where it feels like a second lasts a life time and a life time only a second.

How do you state what you feel, when you feel everything and nothing all at once?

Taken From MSN.com

Most-Educated Cities in the United States

According to a Census Bureau study, Seattle tops the list of America's most educated cities, with more than half its population 25 years and older holding at least a bachelor's degree.

Data collected by the Census Bureau's American Community Survey shows that 52.7 percent of 25-and-over Seattleites have a bachelor's degree or higher, closely followed by San Francisco (50.1 percent), Raleigh, North Carolina (50.1 percent), Washington, D.C. (45.3 percent), and Austin, Texas (44.1 percent). These same cities ranked--in the same order--as the top five most educated cities in last year's Census Bureau data as well.

The national college graduation rate is 27.2 percent, up from last year's figure of 25.9 percent.

Education levels bode well for a city's economic success. The top five most educated cities also made the list of the top 25 most prosperous cities.

With a median household income of $70,921, residents of San Jose, California, earn more, on average, than those in any other city in the country. San Jose residents are also well-educated. With 36.1 percent of its population holding a bachelor's degree or higher, San Jose ranks in the top 15 on America's list of most-educated cities.

The connection between higher education and higher earning is not surprising given that college graduates earn an average of nearly $2.1 million in their lifetimes, almost twice as much as those with only a high school diploma.

Those smarty Seattleites? They have the eighth highest median household income in the United States. San Francisco ranks fourth.

[graph deleated...it looked funny]

Based on the industries that the cities on this list are known for, the concentration of educated citizens makes sense. Seattle is the manufacturing hub for the engineer-rich aircraft company Boeing, software giant Microsoft, and the pioneering online retailer Amazon. All three employers require an educated workforce. San Francisco and Raleigh both have high-tech industries as well. In addition, San Francisco also acts as a West Coast center for the finance and publishing industries, while Raleigh is home to several universities.

The university factor links the remaining cities that round out the top five: Washington, D.C., and Austin. Of course, Washington has the distinct advantage of being the nation's capital, thus attracting a larger-than-average population of college graduates.

But it's important to understand that the industries that helped put these cities on this list employ highly educated workers for a reason. Engineering, law and policy-making, high finance, university teaching and research, and publishing demand skilled workers who have a bachelor's degree--and often post-graduate degrees--directly related to the profession.

The contributions of the educated workforce boost the success of the companies that employ them, in turn boosting the economy of the cities where these companies are based, which attracts more educated job-seekers. If there's a downside at all, the cities on this chart generally have a higher cost of living. But that should ultimately act as a motivator. Get educated, and your earnings are likely to increase.

Of course, many factors will determine a city's relative prosperity. But just as a well-educated individual has a leg up in the workforce, high educational achievement among a city's population seems to give it clear advantages in developing its civic and financial health.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It makes you wonder about a few things...like for example Seattle hating Bush. Or the fact that we are one of the most, if not the most, liberal cities in the nation.

Yup...it certainly makes you wonder.

Terror Warning
At New York's Kennedy airport today,an individual later to be discovered to be a public school teacher was arrested trying to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, a slide rule, and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, the attorney general said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement..

He is being charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction. Al-gebra is a fearsome cult," a Justice Department spokesman said. "They
desire average solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of absolute value. They use secret code names like
'X' and 'Y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns',but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with
coordinates in every country. As the Greek phillanderer Isosceles used to say,'there are 3 sides to every triangle'."

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush said,"If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have gave us more fingers and toes".
